New ISOC Chapter to be formed in Philadelphia
New members and interested parties welcomed at ISOC Philadelphia's inaugural event on October 18th with keynote speech by Wireless Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA - October 8, 2007 - Today, Afilias (www.afilias.info) and the Metropolitan Career Center (www.MetropolitanCareerCenter.org) announced that they have joined forces to sponsor the formation of a local chapter of a global non-profit organization called the Internet Society (www.isoc.org) in Philadelphia. This chapter, now in formation, will continue to foster the development and availability of the Internet and associated issues for Philadelphia and the surrounding community.

"Philadelphia is quickly becoming one of the most connected cities in America," said Mara Lipschutz, President of ISOC Philadelphia and VP of Operations at MCC. "ISOC Philadelphia will hope to bring a global perspective about key Internet issues such as broadband access and availability to all homes and businesses, technical standards, and insight on new technical and political developments that effect the operation of the Internet for Philadelphia and the surrounding communities."

ISOC Philadelphia will welcome members of the public and other interested parties at its inaugural event to be held at 6:00 p.m. on October 18, 2007 at the Metropolitan Career Center's Philadelphia offices at 100 South Broad St. Suite 830. A keynote speech will be delivered by Greg Goldman, CEO of Wireless Philadelphia. Following the keynote address ISOC Philadelphia officers and Board members will be present to introduce the leadership of this "chapter in formation" and discuss opportunities for interested individuals to get involved in chapter activities.
