Roland LaPlante - Board of Directors, ISOC Philadelphia

Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Afilias

Mr. LaPlante oversaw the marketing and launch planning for .INFO in 2001, and the transition and launch of every TLD supported by Afilias since (15 TLDs and over 17 milllion registrations). Roland's 30-year career in marketing began at Procter and Gamble. He has held senior marketing positions at McGraw Hill, Providian Corporation, Citibank and Heublein, Inc. and was most recently Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Xlibris, an Internet publishing company based in Philadelphia. Roland graduated with a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A from Amos Tuck. In June 2001,he accepted the position of CMO of Afilias.

Sr. Director, Security and Privacy – Comcast Cable

Jay Opperman as Director of Security and Privacy is responsible for developing and implementing cross platform customer security strategies, products, and services for Comcast’s High Speed Internet, Digital Voice, Digital Video, and Wireless offerings. Jay also oversees the Customer Security Assurance operation responding to the daily needs and exploits to provide the highest quality experience possible to Comcast customers. Prior to Comcast Jay has contributed over 27 years of service to the Telecommunications and Data communications markets in a wide variety of roles from Systems Engineering and Architecture to Product Marketing and Management. Jay holds a Bachelors Degree in Electronic Engineering and a Masters Degree in Computer Science.

Manager of High Speed Internet Engineering, Comcast Cable

Chris Griffiths leads the High Speed Internet Engineering team at Comcast, which focuses on Internet Systems, Services, and New Business Initiatives. This includes managing the deployment of the DNS architecture, DOCSIS 3.0 deployments, Congestion Management, IPv6, WiFi, Broadband Home Security, as well as other business critical services at Comcast Corporation. Chris joined Comcast in 2002 in an operations capacity and later moved into an Engineering role focused on Back Office Provisioning, DNS, and IP Solutions. Prior to joining Comcast, Chris worked for several Internet and application development companies where he was focused on leading development and engineering teams on building new application systems and solutions.

Chris is involved in standards work at the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) where he has been a co-author of an RFC and several Internet drafts. He has also participated and presented at the North American Network Operators Group (NANOG), and Domain Name System Operations Analysis and Research Center (DNS-OARC) meetings. He holds a bachelors degree from University of Delaware.

Senior Internet Engineer, MetLife

At MetLife, Mike is part of the Enterprise Content Management group which manage and support both the Web content and Search services of the company. In addition to this, Mike serves as the technical lead in on-boarding all external facing Web sites including all international affiliates and sub-sites. Prior to joining MetLife, Mike has more than seventeen years of extensive experience in leading projects for large, global systems. Mike has an advanced exposure in all aspects of Systems and Network management including issue management, project deployment, requirement gathering and evaluation, and change management. He has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Adamson University and Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of Scranton. Mike is also the founder of pinoyreachout.org, a not-for-profit organization which objective is to support the college education of the less fortunate but academically deserving high school students from the Philippines.
